The history of CNC Industries goes back to 1971 when the president of the company gained much of his machining experience running engine lathes, knee mills and surface grinders. He clearly recalls the days of standing at an engine lathe or knee mill all day long producing identical copies of parts to the best of his and the machine’s capabilities.
He also remembers the day that “NC”, Numerically Controlled and then “CNC” Computer Numerically Controlled machines came onto the scene in the mid-70’s. In fact, he & his wife purchased one of the first CNC Turning centers in the area for the first shop that they started in 1975 - a Precision Mold Shop named Deam Manufacturing, Inc.. Since the CNC lathe cost over eight times as much as an engine lathe, some of their competitors speculated that the machine would put the company out of business. Not only did it not put them out of business, they purchased a second identical machine six months later.
In 1986 Steve and Linda Deam accepted an offer to purchase Deam Manufacturing, Inc. (That business is still operating under a different name.) From there Steve and Linda purchased a small CAD/CAM company that was struggling to hang on. For the next nine years Steve traveled around the country installing CAD/CAM systems into hundreds of machine shops of all sizes, up to and including GM.
In 1995 the Deams decided to start another shop. This time rather than specializing in precision rubber molds they decided to venture into the Job Shop market. Although going to college full time, Steve Deam Jr. became involved in the family business at that time too. While attending BYU, Steve Jr. started developing Job Manager I, an MRP application. After two years at BYU Steve Deam Jr. joined CNC Industries on a full-time basis while finishing his degree(s) at IPFW.

Starting off with three people in December 1995, CNC Indusries has enjoyed very rapid growth from the very beginning. Due to its commitment to dependable performance, its focus on customer satisfaction, and aggressive sales efforts CNC Industries outgrew its original facility in a little over 2 years.

In 1997 the Company began development of a custom designed Distributed MRP system. Now in its second version the highly specialized system facilitates accurate quoting, ordering, scheduling, process-flow, inspection, corrective actions, inspection, as well as dozens of other functions. The MRP system has enabled the Company to precisely track every detail of every job in real-time.
